A blog post about Record Store Day and my interview with Jamie Lidell.

Happy Record Store Day! While hanging out and enjoying the beautiful weather at Grimey’s in Nashville, Tennessee, this morning, I picked up the following gems:

  • Sonic Youth – Hits Are for Squares ltd. edition vinyl
  • Sonic Youth – Confusion Is Sex ltd. edition white vinyl reissue
  • Pheonix – Fences ltd. edition pink vinyl
  • MGMT – Siberian Breaks ltd. edition etched 12″
  • Yeah Yeah Yeahs 7″
  • Julian Casablancas 7″

After spending the morning fighting crowds and sorting through vinyl, I had a phone interview with one of my favorite artists, Jamie Lidell. We talked about songwriting, his attention to detail in his live shows, and just how much great music is out there if you don’t limit yourself by genre. And, since I’m in Nashville, he told me to tell a certain Mr. Jack White hello. So Jack, if you’re out there, Jamie says hey.

Look for the interview, as well as a review of Compass, on AmericanSongwriter.com closer to the release date. Compass hits shelves May 18. It’s a great album, so do yourselves a favor and pick it up.
